Home. Nuclear. Reactor. From Toshiba. Toshiba has developed a new class of micro size Nuclear Reactors that is designed to power individual apartment buildings or city blocks. The new reactor, which is only 20 feet by 6 feet, could change everything for small remote communities, small businesses or even a group of neighbors who are fed up with the power companies and want more control over their energy needs. Wonder how much does it cost ?

graphene_graphite.jpg

Princeton (NJ) – Researchers at Princeton University have discovered a potentially viable way to use carbon as a replacement substrate material for silicon.  The team has figured out how to build transistors on tiny patches of the substrate, called graphene, just a few atomic layers thick.  The research indicates that switching speeds could be 10x faster than silicon. Sounds cool but still too far from working  examples.

1. Headphones translates the sound by vibration
2. they don’t silence any sound around you (absolutely)

Some people (including me) don’t feel comfortable walking on the street without hearing what is going on around. Ambient sound is what is want to hear. Rechargeable through USB, seen it here. Not much else to say – stuff like this one have to be tried by own.

1712ssd.jpgThis news already been presented on many websites, but anyway i am going to join as well – so, on upcoming in January CES 2008 exhibition (Consumer Electronics Show), Intel is going to demonstrate its version of SSD (Solid-state drive) – Z-P140 PATA. The capacities from 2gb up to 16gb. Very light on energy consumption, very small size. The interface is surprisingly – parallel ATA. It is positioned for application in mobile compact devices. Another assumption – this SSD can be acting as additional device in modern motherboards (with SATA as primary interface) for example to boot OS? Anyway, no doubt Intel has its own plans for this SSD. Conclusion – Intel is going to SSD market ?
